Whew, I can't remember the last time I thought about/listened to "Existentialism on Prom Night," but as a teen I definitely, constantly played the refrain on piano. Thank you for digging that (practically full-body) memory up!

Wow…“Evidence of having lived” - so well said here…I have so much in common with what you’ve shared here. I’m thinking about my own unfinished garageband songs, 13 year break from grad school, my love of that straylight run song that I discovered via a mixtape from a classmate, and also, seeing Rist’s work here…all makes me think about how, in my 30s now, there’s all of this digitally fragmented evidence of my life scattered about in ways that often cannot be physically held or touched like a photograph…but, yet still meaningful, amidst their immateriality. The downside is that there is often a struggle to identify a sense forwardness or cohesiveness in these things that can’t be fully grasped, but as you said, they are still evidence of having lived. And I am learning to at least find connections where I can, and perhaps, amidst all that feels scattered there may still be a sense of wholeness and fullness in that. - thanks for sharing this 💛
