constellations #33: algorithmic joyride
Hi again.
Last weekend I showed one of my roommates this absolutely delightful, wacky, Eurovision-inspired earworm from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, which →
→ reminded Matt of “PONPONPON” by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, which →
→ led to YouTube recommending us videos of night walks through Tokyo, which →
→ led to YouTube recommending a video of a walk through a bamboo forest, which →
→ made me interested in the whole genre of “night walk through [location]” videos, so I recommended we walk through Stockholm, which →
→ made me kind of worried that I had immediately recommended somewhere I had already been instead of somewhere I’d never been — maybe having been stuck inside the same familiar spaces for so long is dimming my imagination for travel, I thought, or maybe I was just chasing the feeling of unfamiliarity I felt when I was there — which →
→ I didn’t have too much time to dwell on because then we started watching a high-def scuba exploration video and the turtles took my breath away.
That’s all for today. Hope the algorithm takes you for a joyride this week. (You may never get that Drag Race song out of your head, by the way.)
xo,
M
