constellations #110: what gives you hope?
Hi again.
constellations is on summer vacation this month. In lieu of a full newsletter I would like to ask you one question:
What is giving you hope right now?
Maybe coming up with an answer feels like a tall order; maybe a million things spring to mind. (For me, it is somehow both.) Either way, I’d love it if you’d send me your response. I don’t plan to publish your answers or anything; I’m just looking for a little conversation. You can leave a comment here or reply to this email. I hope the summer is treating you well. See you next 24th.
xo,
M

P.S.
Here are some things I’ve been consuming lately: Freaky Friday (the 2003 movie, not the recent sequel; for the first time; great!); Sorry, Baby (loved it); Josh Sharp: Ta-Da! (loved it); a lot of New York Liberty games (mostly on TV but one IRL!) with Mad; Run the Song by Ben Ratliff; this unhinged conversation between Mitski and Patti Harrison; this New Yorker story about a mother and her trans teen deciding to leave the U.S.; Jenny Gathright’s reporting for the Washington Post about the horrific federal takeover of D.C.’s local police; Blue Reminder by Hand Habits (which I reviewed for Pitchfork); when i paint my masterpiece by Ada Lea (which I also reviewed for Pitchfork); Golden Caravan by Clifford; a roséwave playlist that I talked about on NPR with my pal Lars; fresh caught clams with linguine on Martha’s Vineyard; the Falmouth Road Race; a week on the beach with a bunch of friends <3

Never would have spotted the Mitski/Patti convo—thanks for the heads up!
