constellations #11: to make you smile
Hi again.
Since last week’s newsletter was quite long and full of feelings, this will be not that.
In the hopes that they may help you, too, here’s a short list of things that have brought me joy lately:
Eating a cherry snow cone
Hearing the distinctive laugh of a friend I hadn’t talked to in a couple months
This TikTok
Getting cacio e pepe from the fancy restaurant in my neighborhood that I never went to during non-pandemic times because it was hard to get a reservation/expensive/etc.
Also this TikTok
This illustration of an unexpected band in an unexpected place
This horse rescue farm Instagram account
This oral history of a movie I have seen precisely one (1) time. Honestly the insider info about the sports logo really tickled me!
My resilient Christmas cactus
This forthcoming record and this one that just came out
Riding my bike in Rock Creek Park and crossing paths with a deer
This great fall tradition
This book, a (very funny) first-of-its-kind cultural history, which I (finally) read over the weekend and adored
Watching my sweetheart very methodically assess a large-scale cleaning project and patiently work through each aspect of it
Picking wildflowers, and more specifically: realizing that, after a couple hours in transit wherein the flowers had drooped significantly, and then after having been rearranged and put in water, they had perked right back up and looked magnificent
That’s it. I hope you find joy where you need it this week.
xo,
M
